7 Weeks Old!

Well little man, it has been a trying week for all of us! Your brother came down with a 24-hour flu over the weekend and you have had an extra dose of fussiness to go along with him! Trying times, but we are pushing through!

(I have to wear you pretty much all the time to get anything done!)

In my opinion though, for the most part, you are narrowing down your crying to two reasons in particular- you are tired and about ready to fall asleep (but are fighting it with all you have) or you are bored. If a change of scenery or fun interaction (such as The Itsy Bitsy Spider) doesn't cure the fit, then it is probably tiredness!

We got you some new diapers because you had pretty much grown out of all the others! You are growing so fast that I can hardly believe it! You have to be at least 13 pounds by now! Yes- my muscles are getting quite large (at least in my left arm!)!

We tried to get your 6 weeks 1 day pictures (the same day old that we got your big brother's taken) this last week but it didn't go as well as I had planned! You were very tired and the photography studio apparently no longer works on "baby time," so we didn't get to take all the poses of you that I wanted- very disappointing. What can a mama do though? We tried!

Later that day however you did enjoy a little time at the park! It has been incredibly hot out, so we took your big brother to a splash pad at a local park. He loved it and you ate and slept! Good times!

We love you so much and think that you get cuter by the day! You are really coming into your own features and becoming more of a little individual all the time! Happy seven weeks Lion Cub!

6 Weeks Old!

6 weeks and you are getting so darn big! In fact, you are definitely going through a growth spurt this week because you are nursing like a crazy man! I just put you down and you want to eat again right away! At your first doctor's appointment last Thursday you weighed in at a whopping 11.4- that is almost 4 pounds in 5 1/2 weeks!

You and R-Man at the doctor's!

Everything else checked out well at your doctor's visit (first time seeing this doc and he was awesome- he spent over an hour with us!)! However, you did scream the WHOLE time! To be honest, I was kind of glad you did so that he would believe me when I said that you were a screamer! He said that he didn't think it was true colic but rather just fussi-baby-ness! Yes, you are just like your brother! Everyone says you never get two crazy babies in a row, but they are WRONG! It's okay though- you fit in well with our high-strung family!

Your brother adores you and wants to hold you all the time! You love watching his crazy antics and having him talk to you! In fact, you are enjoying interacting with us more and more! You are usually fairly quiet and alert right after you wake up in the morning and love cooing and smiling up at us! You even quieted down the other day mid-cry when I laid you down and started singing The Itsy Bitsy Spider to you! I was shocked but kept on singing! However, just singing usually isn't enough- you like a full on production with hand gestures and crazy facial expressions! When I ran out of baby songs I started with showtunes and probably got through half of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat before you were ready to be picked up again!

You are tracking well with your eyes and seem to be able to see farther and farther away. You are also beginning to turn your head in response to our voices and your name! It is getting harder and harder to remember what it was like without having you here. You are the perfect addition to our family and we love you so much!

Here are other cute pictures of you from this week-

5 Weeks Old!

It was another eventful week for us Lion Cub! You got to meet your cousins Natanya and Aubrey for the first time-Here you are with Natanya. She spent the night on Sunday and was very helpful at distracting you and your brother for me so I could get a few things done!

Here was one of your classic moments-

You are being worn a lot (pretty normal for you since it is one of the few places you will stay asleep!)-

And Daddy even wore you for the first time to try to keep you quiet!

Today we spent a little time outside. Your adoring brother loves to give you kisses and this was how I found the two of you:

Here he was trying to keep the sun out of your eyes- he figured that if it was in his eyes it must be in yours too!

He loves you so much and really wants to pick you up the last couple of days (don't worry- we don't let him without a lot of help!), and he is getting good at helping me take care of you!

Here is a picture that R-Man took of you and I- not too shabby!

And here are just cute shots of you actually being content!

One HUGE milestone for you came today when you actually slept in the swing for a couple of hours (instead of.02 seconds!)!! I found out the trick is to put you in on your side! This is going to be a huge life & sanity saver for mama- maybe I can actually get something done now!!

We get to know you a little better every day and are getting better at figuring out your likes and dislikes. You coo so much now- especially when we talk to you! You are smiling more and more and had your first few minutes of tummy-time yesterday (which you were great at- completely holding up your head and shoulders, by the way!)! I greatly appreciate that you sleep so well at night- we snuggle and nurse all through the night and I get so much sleep! You look more like yourself and less like your brother all the time and we love you so much sweet boy!!

4 weeks old!

This past week we celebrated your first 4th of July out at Grammy and Pappy's lake cabin! In all honesty, you spent a good portion of the weekend doing this:

But you did have some quiet alert times too- like here when you were cooing at daddy and your big brother-

You especially loved being outside- I think the change of scenery was good for you!

With Grammy

The hammock swing chair was one of your favorite places to snooze!

And on the beach-

And on the bed (but usually not for very long!)-

You also spent lots of time in the Sleepy Wrap-

And bouncing with mama and daddy to keep you calm!

Things we found out about you this week:
  • You really appreciate a dry diaper!
  • Our bed is your favorite place to sleep (well, second to on us!)
  • Being bounced by daddy seems to calm you down the fastest!
  • You love a change of environment and scenery (we think sometimes you just get bored!)!

Things I love about you:
  • The way you always have your hands up by your head- it is so cute!
  • How you smile when we talk to you!
  • How much more you are cooing and "talking" to us!
  • How you cuddle up an use my breast as a pillow after you get done nursing at night!
